The question of the day - is it possible to rob a magician?

I saw a little news blurb recently about a few guys who tried to hold up the magician (sorry..."illusionist") David Copperfield, along with two of his female assistants.

The would-be robbers approached David and the assistants outside an arena after a show. After the robbers threatened the group, the two assistants were forced to hand over money and cellphones. David, on the other hand, pulled out his pant pockets to show them he wasn't carrying anything. In actuality, he was carrying a wallet, passport and a cellphone.

Later on, David said "it wasn't difficult to make it seem like there was nothing there."

First of all, you've got to be pretty dumb to fall for that trick. What's funny to me is that apparantly David's skills weren't good enough to protect the female assistants. They still had to fork over all their belongings. But maybe afterwards David could have made the whole neighborhood disappear.

(By the way, Gob is the illusionist character from the brilliant, yet short-lived, "Arrested Development" TV show.)
