Collard Wanderings

We started our language learning tonight with this software on our computer. I can now confuse the words for a couple rooms in the house, silverware, and the names for family members.

So far it appears that this software will certainly teach us some good things, but you wouldn't be able to lock yourself in a room with it for a year and emerge as a native speaker. We're just doing this as the icing on a future cake that we'll be devouring full-time when we arrive.

When it comes to language learning software, this one probably wouldn't compare with the Rosetta Stone software. You've probably seen that one - they have a little stand at most malls with tons of yellow-packaged software. They're the big kahuna in the industry. But, in spite of my repeated requests of the poor guy manning the booth at our local mall, they still haven't developed a Croatian version. (How did Welsh beat out Croatian?) So, I'm glad Amy found this one for the time being.

One good thing about this software though - apparantly it's been able to shorten the learning process by eliminating an often needed third step. Hence it's just 1, 2, Speak!!
