Changes
Today is a national holiday here. The holiday is "The 1st of May", which of course we don't usually celebrate in the States.Traditionally, my picture of how this part of the world would celebrate May 1st looks something like this:
People standing 20 feet away from columns of nuclear missiles that are randomly driven down local city streets. ("No loud noises or sudden movements please...")
In the recent past, this might have been true. However, today people celebrate the 1st of May here more like this:
I think this is probably a good thing.
We didn't do either one. We did have the day off as well, so we decided to go see a friend who lives in a city on the coast. We drove down yesterday and spent the night, then came back today. A quick trip, but still it was a lot of fun. Good food, great weather, an interesting town to see, and a good game of Settlers.
Now I can hit the books again tomorrow!
